Thank You Erickson Family

For over 20 years, the Erickson family has been volunteering at the Dacotah Speedway. Charlie, the voice of the Dacotah Speedway, was well known by fans and drivers as the head announcer. He also served as Track President on the Board of Directors. Charlie was instrumental in bringing electronic scoring to Dacotah Speedway and took it upon himself to be the Points Director and making sure that the points and results were correct after each and every race. He was also our web master, making sure the content on our website was relative for fans and drivers. He also wrote, voiced and produced hundreds of radio ads for the Dacotah Speedway and even hosted his own dirt track racing radio show on Saturday mornings.

His lovely wife, Deb, volunteered at Dacotah Speedway for over 19 years. While Charlie took a more prominent role, Deb was always more than willing to fill in when needed. She often times took tickets at the front gate and sometimes helped serve food in the concessions. For several years, Deb operated and managed the Dacotah Speedway novelty stand. Most recently, Deb helped in the scoring as a track official.

Their oldest son, Jordan, volunteered as an assistant flagman. Growing up around dirt track racing, Jordan knew the rules and procedures inside and out which made him an outstanding track official. For a brief moment, Jordan even considered racing a Hobby Stock.

However, when Jordan moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, his younger brother Mitch stepped up to fill his shoes. When Dacotah Speedway needed a head flag man, Mitch volunteered at the young age of 18. With wisdom beyond his years and the composure of a veteran, Mitch was a wonderful flagman.

Unfortunately, Charlie and Deb faced the difficult decision to either stay in North Dakota or move closer to their boys. Just weeks before the 2017 season, Charlie and Deb announced they were going to move to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dacotah Speedway is extremely grateful for the many years that Charlie, Deb, Jordan and Mitch volunteered. Thank you for the late nights and the early mornings they spent at the speedway. The Ericksons's helped shape Dacotah Speedway in to the amazing racing facility it is today. Dacotah Speedway is going to truly miss you and wish you guys the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Thank you Charlie, Deb, Jordan and Mitch.
