HANSON GOES BACK TO BACK AT DACOTAH SPEEDWAY

Ken Sandberg grabbed the lead from pole sitter Stan Thompson in the IMCA Sport Compact feature. As Sandberg started to distance himself from the field, Thompson and Braydee Hanson battled for second. A late race caution regrouped the field with four laps to go. On the restart, Hanson was all over Sandberg’s bumper. They raced hard for the win when Sandberg over drove turn four, allowing Hanson to slip by for the lead with three laps to go. Sandberg fell into the clutches of third place Paul Schuh. As the checkered flag waved, Paul Schuh edged Ken Sandberg at the finish line. Peder Dekray finished fourth ahead of fifth place Brayden Urlacher while Braydee Hanson went on to win back-to-back feature wins at Dacotah Speedway.

HOBBY STOCK FEATURE ENDS IN A THRILLER FINISH

Bismarck’s Terry Davenport took the early lead in the Hobby Stock feature. Davenport’s lead was short lived as Chris Welk grabbed the lead on lap three. Davenport started to fade through the field, losing positions to Brent Vetter, Mike Appert and John Gartner Jr. A mid race caution erased Welk’s large lead and on the restart, Welk had his hands full with Vetter and Gartner. Vetter slipped by Welk with eight laps to go, bringing Gartner with him. However, Welk stayed with the leaders and it was a three car battle for the win. Gartner pulled along side of Vetter and they raced side by side for the lead. With two laps to go, Gartner edged Vetter at the finish line before a late race caution ended the race early as the Hobby Stocks went over their time limit. Race officials declared John Gartner Jr the winner over Brent Vetter and Chris Welk. Mike Appert finished fourth ahead of Terry Davenport.

WIEST REPEATS IN MANDAN

The INEX Legends hit the track next as Chase Schlafmann passed pole sitter Adam Meuchel for the lead in the feature. The veteran, Ivan Sailer, quickly passed Schlafmann but had his hands full with a speedy Austin Wiest. On lap three, Austin Wiest slipped by Sailer, bringing Donavin Wiest with him. Austin Wiest and Donavin Wiest raced side by side for the lead before Donavin slipped by with nine laps to go. A late race caution reset the field and on the restart, Austin Wiest was all over Donavin Wiest’s rear bumper. However, when the checkered flag waved, Donavin Wiest held off Austin Wiest for the feature win for the second week in a row. Ivan Sailer finished third while Bill Hultberg finished ahead of Brandon Anderson for fourth place.

CARTER KICKS OFF STREET STOCK TOUR WITH A VICTORY

After two complete restarts in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature, pole sitter Jonny Carter pulled away from the field as Todd Carter and Billie Christ battled for second. Christ cleared Todd Carter for second and Carter started to fall into the clutches of fourth place Justin Vogel and Brad Kadrmas. As the laps wound down, Christ started to reel in leader Jonny Carter. Christ was all over Jonny Carter’s rear bumper for the win but ran out of time. As the checkered flag waved, Jonny Carter crossed the finish line first to pick up the first win of the WISSOTA Street Stock Tour. Billie Christ had to settle for second. Todd Carter finished third ahead of Just Vogel. Brad Kadrmas just narrowly edged Kyle Anderson at the finish line for fifth place.

KINZLEY RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE

Pole sitter Hank Berry quickly pulled away in the IMCA Modified feature. Berry’s large lead was quickly erased after a lap seven caution. On the restart, Quentin Kinzley passed Mark Dahl for second and challenged Berry for the lead. They briefly raced side by side until Kinzley took the lead on lap eight. Kinzley started to pull away as Marlyn Seidler started to close in on second place Berry. Quentin Kinzley made it look easy as he cruised to victory lane to win his second career feature victory. Hank Berry held off Marlyn Seidler to finish second while Jeremy Keller finished fourth. Spencer Wilson rounded out the top five.
