THOMPSON GOES FROM LAST TO FIRST

Paul Schuh shuffled into the lead during the IMCA Sport Compact feature. Schuh led early but second place, Braydee Hanson, was all over his rear bumper. As the leaders raced hard for the lead, it allowed third place Stan Thompson to close in. With three laps to go, it was a three car battle for the win. Hanson dove low under Schuh which opened the door for Thompson to slip by to take second however, it was still anyone’s race to win. Coming out of turn four and racing towards the checkered flag, Stan Thompson just narrowly edged Paul Schuh for the feature victory. Braydee Hanson finished third while James Gilbert made a last lap pass to finish fourth ahead of Ken Sandberg. Braydee Hanson’s second place wrapped up the Gov Cup championship.

MICHAELSOHN MAKES LAST LAP PASS FOR WIN

Defending track champion A.J. Davenport led the field to the green flag in the Hobby Stock feature. It was a two car battle for second between Chad Hausauer and Karlie Hoerner. Hausauer cleared the second position as Hoerner fell into the clutches of Curt Michaelsohn. Davenport had a healthy lead until he lost a tire in corner two with eight laps to go, collecting Brent Vetter with him. The two drivers’ night ended early, handing the lead over second place Hausauer. As Hausauer led the field back to the restart, Michaelsohn and Jarod Klein raced side by side for second. It became a three car battle for the win. As the white flag waved, Michaelsohn shuffled into the lead. Coming to the checkered flag, Curt Michaelsohn edged Jarod Klein to the feature victory. Chad Hausauer finished third ahead of Mike Appert while Nathan Messer rounded out the top five. Curt Michaelsohn’s victory clinched the Gov Cup Championship.

WIEST WINS FOURTH VICTORY OF THE SEASON

Nate Keena led the first lap in the INEX Legends feature. Keena’s lead was short lived as Drew Papke slipped by on lap two and a few laps later, Donavin Wiest followed. Wiest reeled in Papke for the lead and with 10 laps to go, they raced side by side for the lead. Wiest cleared Papke for the lead and as the laps wound down, Wiest started to pull away from the field. A late race caution reset the field however, Donavin Wiest survived the restart to win his fourth feature victory of the season over Drew Papke. Preston Martin finished third while Austin Wiest held off Dauntae Martin for fourth. Donavin Wiest’s victory edged Drew Papke for the Gov Cup Championship.

Pole sitter, Kyle Anderson led from the pole in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature. However, points leader Hunter Domagala was all over his rear bumper. They briefly raced side by side until Hunter Domagala took the lead on lap three, bringing Tracy Domagala with him. As Hunter Domagala started to pull away, Tracy Domagala had his hands full with Anderson. As the checkered flag neared, Anderson repassed Tracy Domagala for second leaving Tracy Domagala to fend off fourth place Jonny Carter. When the checkered flag waved, Tracy Domagala edged Jonny Carter to the finish line to finish third behind second place Kyle Anderson while Hunter Domagala swept the weekend and win the Gov Cup Championship.

DAHL DOMINATES TO WIN FIRST RACE SINCE 2016

In the IMCA Modified feature, Mark Dahl led from the pole. Dahl quickly started to pull away from the field until an early caution erased his lead. On the restart, third place Marlyn Seidler raced side by side with Kenny Wallace. As the leaders started to catch lapped traffic, it allowed Wallace to close in on second place Hank Berry. Using the lapped traffic to his advantage, Wallace slipped by Berry for second and started cutting into Dahl’s lead. However, Kenny Wallace ran out of time as Mark Dahl led all 25 laps to win the feature, his first since 2016. Marlyn Seidler made a late race pass to finish third ahead of Hank Berry while Travis Olheiser finished fifth. Mark Dahl’s victory sealed the Gov Cup Championship.

On the restart, Wade Nygaard passed Mullen and was catching Martin for the lead before spinning on his own with seven laps to go. Martin and Mullen raced hard for the win on the restart. They raced side by side until Martin cleared the position. Mullen, pushing his car to the limits, got off the front stretch, opening the door for Nick Omdahl to slip by. When the checkered flag waved. Nick Omdahl held off Brendan Mullen for second. Greg Nikitenko finished fourth ahead of Austin Pierce while Bob Martin cruised to victory.
