Dacotah Speedway: When was your first race?
Barrett: My first race was in 1991 at the Bismarck race track in Jack Bunker's car. I had been helping him for a while and he let me drive one night.
Dacotah Speedway: What has been your worst wreck?
Barrett: Probably my worst wreck was in 2000 at the Jamestown speedway on Memorial Day weekend. I got turned into the turn 4 wall and ended up flying through the air over John Correll Jr. while he was rolling and landing on top of Dick Schulz. I also rolled down the back straightaway of Dacotah Speedway on opening night one year.
Dacotah Speedway: Why did you chose the number you have?
Barrett: I race number 44 because that was the number of my Dad's and Uncle Steve Johnson's car when they raced together.
Dacotah Speedway: Who inspired you to get into racing?
Barrett: My Dad and Uncle Steve inspired me to get into racing. I always wanted to be with them helping on the race car when I was smaller.
Dacotah Speedway: What was your first racing t-shirt?
Barrett: I don't remember my first racing shirt, but pretty sure it was a Darrell Waltrip shirt.
Dacotah Speedway: Why do you race a WISSOTA Street Stock?
Barrett: I race streets because it is still affordable for me to race and it is a really competitive class. Also when I started racing streets were the beginning class in racing in Bismarck-Mandan.If you'd like to be featured on our "Beyond The Dirt" series call Michelle Stoxen at 527-7229 or Layn Mudder at 667-9420.
