Rest in Peace Nylee

It is with great sadness to announce that local Dacotah Speedway driver and fan favorite, Nylee (Boyce) Dimeo, has lost her battle with breast cancer.

Born in 1967, Nylee was surrounded by racing at an early age. She grew up watching her father and her older brother, Joren, race around the state. Nylee entertained the idea of racing herself but her brother quickly shot that idea down when he said, "girls don't race."

With Joren's words stuck in her head, she was more determined than ever to hop behind the wheel. In 2009, Nylee got her first race car and started racing in the beginners class, then called Thunder 4's (which would later be sanctioned as IMCA Sport Compacts.) She raced many years at the Dacotah Speedway and was one of the few women who raced night after night.

She developed a fan base as she got better and better each year. Nylee was well respected within the pits and loved by many. She always knew how to keep racing fun, even on those nights when racing could be anything but fun.

Nylee will be greatly missed at the Dacotah Speedway but her memory will continue to live and race on.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, Oct. 21, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway in Bismarck, with the Rev. Jeff Olson officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.
