Potentially severe weather held off and missed Dacotah Speedway on Friday, June 2nd. Despite the threat of rain, fans and drivers filled the grandstands for a great night of racing.

Berg Returns to Victory Lane
Stan Thompson and rookie Crag Kastner started on the front row of the IMCA Sport Compact feature. As they went four wide into corners one and two, points leader Jason Berg and Chase Schlafmann shuffled into the lead. Berg and Schlafmann pulled away from the field as Stan Thompson tried to hold off his son, Alex Thompson, for third place. Stan and Alex Thompson raced side by side as Kastner lurked in fifth. Alex grabbed the third position and brought Kastner with him. Jason Berg went on to win by almost four seconds over second place, Chase Schlafmann. Alex Thompson crossed the Open Road Honda finish line third ahead of Craig Kastner and Stan Thompson.

Roehrich Earns First Career Hobby Stock Win
Pole sitter James Weber led from the pole but his lead was short lived as Josh Roehrich grabbed the top spot on lap two. Roehrich had his hands full as a fast Jeremy Engelhardt was all over his rear bumper. Engelhardt took lead a lap later but Roehrich held strong in second. Slow traffic allowed Roehrich to retake the lead before a caution with six laps to go. On the restart, Wishek’s Curt Michaelsohn dove low under Roehrich to challenge for the lead. However, Roehrich started to pull away as Michaelsohn tried to hold off Engelhardt and Keith McCleary for second. They raced three wide for second until Nathan Messer made it a four car battle. As they crossed the finish line, Curt Michaelsohn narrowly edged Nathan Messer for fourth. Points leader Jeremy Engelhardt held off Keith McClearly for second as Josh Roehrich picked up his first career Hobby Stock feature win.

Hoff Wins Three-In-A-Row at Dacotah Speedway
Rookie Carson Dowling started on the pole for the INEX Legends feature. Troy Hoff, who started ninth, wasted no time taking the lead on lap two just before a caution regrouped the field. On the restart, Hoff pulled away from second place Preston Martin. Third place Nate Keena felt pressure from fourth place Donavin Wiest. Wiest moved to the high side of the track to find a way around Keena. However, low line was the fast line and Wiest started to fade into the clutches of fifth place Stevens. As the laps wound down, Martin and Keena reeled in leader Hoff. They were bumper to bumper to bumper fighting for the win. As the checkered flag waved, Troy Hoff crossed the finish line first for the third straight week in a row over Preston Martin and Nate Keena. Points Leader Donavin Wiest finished fourth while Cole Stevens finished a season best of fifth place.

Michaelsohn To Represent Dacotah Speedway in Race of Champions
As the green flag waved, Allen Frederick and Dustin Frank raced side by side for the lead in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Frederick grabbed the lead before son Zach Frederick took the lead on lap six. Working his way through the field, Chris Michaelsohn passed Jeremy Engelhardt for third and quickly passed Allen Frederick for second. Michaelsohn quickly caught Zach Frederick and they raced side by side for the lead. Michaelsohn powered into the lead on lap nine as Engelhardt started to catch Zach Frederick for second. Zach Frederick and Engelhardt battled hard for second as Allen Frederick lurked in fourth. Contact between Zach Frederick and Engelhardt sent Zach spinning with six laps to go,collecting Frank in the may lay. Engelhardt was sent to the tail of end of the field and on the restart, as Allen Frederick pulled along side Michaelsohn. A late race caution with four laps to go put Allen and Zach Frederick on Michaelsohn’s rear bumper. On the final restart, Linton’s John Weber slipped by Zach Frederick for third and challenged Allen Frederick for second. However, John Weber ran out of time as he had to settle for third, behind second place Allen Frederick. Zach Frederick finished fourth while Deryk Voller rounded out the top five. Michaelsohn went on to win his third feature victory of the season at Dacotah Speedway and will represent the track at the WISSOTA 100 Race of Champions in September.

Keller Runs Away with Third Feature Win
Menoken's Quentin Kinzley and Tim Perkins battled for the lead in the IMCA Modified feature. Kinzley held onto the lead as Perkins started to fade through the field, losing positions to Shawn Strand and Jason Wolla. Wolla, who started eleventh, cracked into the top three by lap 10. Strand caught and passed Kinzley for the lead before a caution for debris from Wolla’s race car brought out a caution on lap 12. Wolla was sent to the tail end of the field and on there start, Jeremy Keller looked low under Strand and took the lead. Keller started to pull away from the field until another caution regrouped the field. Once again, Keller pulled away on the restart as Strand and Marlyn Seidler battled for second. Seidler slipped by for second with eight laps to go, bringing Brad Hartigan with him. No one could catch Jeremy Keller as he would cross the finish line first. Marlyn Seilder finished second ahead of Brad Hartigan. Shawn Strand finished fourth while Travis Olheiser made a late race pass to finish fifth.
