The calendars may say its spring but it is officially “Racing Season” at the Dacotah Speedway. After many days of cold and dreary weather, the track volunteers scrambled to prepare the track for Test and Tune on Saturday, April 30th. Their hard work paid off as over 120 drivers traveled for some practice laps around the 3/8's mile dirt track.

Dacotah Speedway hosted the 7th Annual Drive to Survive on Friday, August 21st. The day started at the Bismarck Cancer Center where nearly 20 Dacotah Speedway regular drivers brought their race cars down for a special meet and greet. The fun continued at the race track where several amazing items were auctioned off before several drivers strapped on some high heeled shoes for a stiletto race. All proceeds raised were donated back to the Bismarck Cancer Center for continued breast cancer research.

Dacotah Speedway hosted the 25th Annual North Dakota Governor's Cup Friday, July 24th and Saturday, July 25th. The two day show featured IMCA Modifieds, WISSOTA Street Stocks, INEX Legends, Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts as well as IMCA Stock Cars and WISSOTA Late Models. Fans were in for an extra treat as the IMCA Modifieds made up their feature from the rained out night of June 19th.

It was a perfect evening for racing for fans and drivers who traveled as far as Texas and Indiana come to race on the high banks of the Dacotah Speedway. Racing in his first Dakota Legends Tour, Nelson Stewart, father of two-time NASCAR champion, Tony Stewart, was also in the house.

Most dirt tracks would call a night with 137 cars a special. But at Dacotah Speedway that’s the number of cars checked in for the Friday night Mandan Dirt Series race. That’s right, not a special, just a plain, old Friday night race. What’s more impressive is that the first green flag was dropped at 7pm and when the final checkered flag was waved, it was 10:10pm.

Fans and drivers braved the cool and damp weather to support a special cause on Friday, August 22nd. It was the 6th Annual Drive to Survive night at the Dacotah Speedway. Fans and drivers who bought a hat or a t-shirt got into the races for free with proceeds going to the Bismarck Cancer Center. Rain was a factor most of the day and into the night as pop up showers watered the track throughout the night.

It has been an exciting season at the Dacotah Speedway. Each week, the track averaged over 110 cars, saw hundreds of cautions, dozens of close finishes almost too close to call and some excellent side by side racing on an almost always perfectly smooth race track. Despite 11 weeks of hard racing, when it came down to championship night, the points were closer than ever.

Dacotah Speedway held the 5th annual “Drive to Survive Night” for the Bismarck Cancer Center on Friday, August 16th. A pink hood donated by Derek Nitschke (#18 Sport Compact), a checkered flag signed by all the feature winners and a racing helmet from Dakota Track Side and signed by all the drivers were all auctioned off at intermission. All the proceeds from the auction and the sale of “Drive to Survive” t-shirts and caps were donated to the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation.

Dacotah Speedway hosted championship night, Thursday, July 11th as drivers made their final stop on the six day tour. The point battles were tight and the racing was nothing short of exciting.

Despite the threat of rain most of the day, fans and drivers flocked to the Dacotah Speedway on Friday, June 21st. The Dacotah Speedway hosted a B-Modified invitational and IMCA and WISSOTA drivers came to compete in the unsanctioned, special event.

Steven Kuntz wins night two of the Legends Tour 2013. Shawn Strand and Jamie Schlafmann win back-to-back Features. Brad Kadrmas gets his first 2013 win in the Wissota Street Stock class.

Strand & Schmidt: Win For 1st Time In 2013

Dacotah Speedway, for the third night in a row, averaged over 120 cars each night! Last Friday, May 24th, was no different as drivers from all over the Midwest came to race the high banks of the 3/8's mile track. The cooler weather made for a smooth, fast track which produced some spectacular racing.

May 17th Feature Winners

Drivers and fans couldn't have asked for a better race track, Friday 17th at the Dacotah Speedway. Light rain showers throughout the week leading up to race night helped with track prep and made for a fast, smooth track for a great night of racing. While the cautions were frequent throughout the night, it did not slow down the racing at the front.
